Erick Situma over the last decade had given his life to those across Kenya and Africa wanting to use rugby to change lives. The most humble, articulate and gracious man Erick’s support, counsel and guidance was sought by many and TourAid was so blessed to have his mentoring to achieve its aims.
Our respect and admiration for Erick is mirrored by many, not only across Africa (where he worked as The Development Officer for World Rugby) but also by all the UK host schools, who also fell for his honest and charming demeanour. Nicknamed, Stu or Cool Running, Erick’s legacy will live on through the 1000′s of children who learnt first-hand of the true values of sport through rugby.
Bright as a button, with a keen strategic eye, Erick always had time for all and cared passionately that rugby should NEVER let anyone down. There had to be pathways and longevity to all interventions. He never forgot a name or child’s circumstances and many times put himself out to ensure promises made were kept.
Erick was the driving force for TourAid’s girls program and he was passionate about equal opportunities.
Patricia, his wife, now has the task of bringing up four fabulous children: Maria Wanjiru 14yrs, Abisagye Nekesa 8yrs, Musa Simiyu 6yrs and Wema Sichangi 6 weeks.
Erick helped facilitate Abbey Touraid’s contact with Sure24 in Kenya and he will be sorely missed by many across the global rugby fraternity.
