We are delighted to confirm that the Tlamelo Vultures arrived safely into London Heathrow, Terminal 2 this morning from Botswana. They were met by Andy Berry, formerly of Touraid, and Gordon Wylie and Andrew Postlethwaite, committee members of Abbey Touraid. Also there to  welcome Zee, Junior and the ten boys was Sean Kenneally of The Piggott School, the team’s host for the duration of their Festival Tour.

At the same time in Terminal 4, Abbey Touraid Chairman, Neil Cranstone and Treasurer, Kris Jones were meeting the Tanzanian team representing Orkeeswa School and their host Highdown School, Reading.

We expect the Kenyans from Sure24 to arrive tomorrow morning following last minute visa and travel delays. Thanks to British Airways for their assistance in this regard. We and their host, Reading School, are pleased and relieved to hear it.

Their stay culminates in a rugby festival to be held at Reading Abbey RFC on Sunday, 25th September 2016.  The festival will be attended by the visitors teams, their host school teams and ten local teams from Chiltern Edge, Denefield, Windsor, Newbury, Reading, Bracknell, Beaconsfield, Henley and Camberley.

During their stay, Abbey Touraid have arranged for day trips to see;

  • London Irish train followed by a tour of Twickenham Stadium
  • A return Thames boat trip from Caversham to Beale Park
  • A visit to Legoland, Windsor on a traditional London double-decker bus

Our generous trip sponsors include FG Alden, Aquarius London and Trueswift.

We would like to acknowledge the help and support of Bob Barnham at Friends of Sure24 for his considerable support and financial assistance prior to disbanding the organisation.
